The ‘Why’ of United Way
You have more choices than ever in making charitable donations. United Way has always been about the difference we can make in our community and how we can best help those in need. That is why making a gift to United Way is simple, important and helps provide best value for your dollar.
Giving to United Way helps take the guesswork out of charitable giving. We believe in listening to the community, that’s why in 2010 we came together with the Health District and Harrison Medical Center to form the Kitsap Community Health Priorities (KCHP). That’s why in 2014 we invited the Kitsap Community Foundation and County Government to join KCHP as sponsoring organizations. And finally, that’s why we invite a myriad of community organizations, educators, medical personnel, business, government and citizens to join KCHP to discuss and make decisions on prioritizing issues to make your gift the most efficient and effective means to impact our community in the most meaningful and measurable way.
We recognize that it matters to everyone that children grow up to be contributing members of this community.
That’s why we focus on Education and helping to ensure that children enter kindergarten ready to learn giving them the opportunity to reach their full potential.
It means understanding the importance of having a home and the need to prevent homelessness. It also means doing what we can to rescue those who are homeless.
That’s why we focus on Housing and Homelessness because it affects the well-being of our entire community.
It means understanding that things like childhood obesity, drug addition, family violence and mental health illness are problems that cause difficult social issues throughout our community.
That’s why we focus on Health so that people and especially children and youth learn to make healthy choices that help the overall health of the community.
We all have an investment in creating a flourishing and healthy community. When a child succeeds in school, when families are able to be in a warm and safe home, when the homeless are able to be reunited with friends, family and the community, when families are healthy and jobs are available, we all win.
We invite everyone to be a part of helping get things done. We want people and organization from all across our community who bring the expertise, the passion and resources needed to get things done. We invite you to be part of the change. You can Give, you can Advocate and you can Volunteer. That’s what it means to LIVE UNITED! Will you join with us and LIVE UNITED?
